What is PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)?

PRP is a natural substance derived from your own blood cells.  PRP contains growth factors that are essential for stem cell migration and ultimately activates and regenerates new cells throughout the body.

Benefits of Microneedling with PRP

  • Reduces the appearance of large pores

  • Evens skin tone

  • Skin tightening

  • Reduces fine lines

  • Collagen stimulation

  • Helps lighten sun spots

  • Reduces capillaries

  • Reduces acne scars

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling also known as collagen induction therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to produce micro injuries to the skin.  These micro injuries stimulate new collagen and elastin production.  These essential proteins strengthen the structure of your skin from the inside out.

Process

  1. A small amount of blood is collected

  2. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the different components

  3. Once the blood is separated the plasma (PRP) is extracted from the tube

  4. PRP is then injected into areas of thinning hair throughout your scalp.

Recovery

You can expect to experience some redness, tenderness and tightness to the treatment area that is similar to a sunburn. Rarely mild bruising may occur. The redness is usually reduced by the second day but for sensitive skin types can last 3-5 days.

Pre-Treatment

As PRP is derived from our own blood the following is recommended to ensure optimal results:

1) Discontinuation of the following 7 days prior to treatment: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, B—Lactum Antibiotics, Vitamin E, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, Alcohol, Green Tea, Multi Vitamins.

2) Stay well hydrated leading up to your procedure.

3) Increase fruit and vegetable intake for at least 7 days prior to treatment.

Post-Treatment

1) Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Alcohol, smoking and direct exposure to sunlight for 7 days.

2) Stay well hydrated.

3) Avoid touching and washing the area for at least 8 hours following treatment.

4) If possible avoid wearing makeup for 1-2 days following treatment.

5) A sunscreen with at least SPF 30 should always be part of your skin care regime. This is very important post treatment as your skin if more vulnerable to sun damage during the recovery phase.

6) A post treatment recovery serum or cream containing hyaluronic acid can help with skin dryness/tightness until hydration is restored.

How soon will I see results?

After treatment you will see immediate results that will continue to improve over the next few weeks. Since your collagen production has now been re-stimulated you should continue too see improvements in skin quality and texture for up to 6 months following treatment.

Microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid

For this treatment a hyaluronic acid serum is applied to the treatment area through microneedling.

Benefits of microneedling with a hyaluronic acid serum include:

  • Reduced pore size

  • Improved skin hydration

  • Diminished lines and wrinkles

  • Improved tone and texture of skin

Process + Recovery

Before treatment a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Once the area is numb and cleansed a hyaluronic acid serum will be applied to the skin via microneedling. Most clients report having minimal discomfort during the procedure and have described the sensation of microneedling to be similar to a light sandpaper moving across the skin.
